Subject: | [amigactive] Amithlon Demonstration Melb Australia !!! |
Got some news peeps, Amithlon is being demoed to the masses at the Melbourne Australia Comdex IT-Expo. So if anyone is in Melbourne from the 5th to the 7th September, come and visit us "The Amiga User Groups of Australia" at stand K18. Amithlon is so fast it's scary and I like the idea of just a few seconds to reboot your Amiga. What else do I like about it? Having half a gig or more of ram, cheap IDE disks the Amiga can read at 26MB per second sustained, using $15 network cards, fast & cheap graphics cards under direct Amiga control. Of course Quake 640x480 at 46 frames per second is pretty good too :-) Bernie Meyer demoed a mandlebrot program. The 68k version was slightly faster than a PPC equiped Amiga. He then demoed the same program where the renderer was recompiled in x86 code and the speed increase was by around a factor of 4. I've got three days to put Amithlon through it's paces and see just what I can get it to do. Cheers :-)
